Zoom Lay Service

Wednesday, March 24, 2021

Mud and rain here. Sap flowing, flowers coming. How is not in your neck of the woods or a straight Valley street?
Here are two rain songs: the storm and the joy. Between them, a parable from The Gospel Of Thomas and the briefest of reflections, as in puddle and then the wind blows it away. "Who’ll Stop The Rain” from Debbie Davies. You’ve really got to hear her play guitar, Next time! -Scripture- and “God Put A Rainbow In The Sky” from Mahalia Jackson. Nuff said.
REMEMBER: Deacons service, via Zoom, 3/28 at 10am.
Easter service April 4, in person if we can meet outdoors. Otherwise, Zoom.

Love,Steve

It’s all here. Let’s start with great news from Jack Swindlehurst: All 2021 Zoom Services so far (Sundays: January 17, February 14, February 28, & March 14 of 2021) have been posted below on this website. This represents a lot of work and immense dedication. Thank you, Jack and Steve Schiff, for our website.

[1]“Early Spring” a brief first glimpse by Jack Swindlehurst and
[2]“Amen” recorded Friday by Nerissa Nields
[3]Scripture: The story of David and the prophet Nathan.

Dear WCCC, We’re inching, by degree and one vaccination at a time; we’re inching, by inches of mud and slicks of ice; we’re inching into spring in the hills. We’ve dearly missed it — so don’t miss it!

This evening: The great Sam Cooke with the Soul Stirrers. And the same old Steve with scripture, message and prayer.
Let’s get to it!

Zoom Service

Wednesday March 10, 2021

Here’s the weather that lifts our hearts. Where grownups play in the puddles just like children. I definitely heard a woodpecker and thought I heard a migrating goose out ahead of the flock.

For this evening: Irma Thomas, the great R&B singer from New Orleans with a gospel tune.
Victoria and Shino, back by popular demand. Message, where the preacher flounders on for 5 minutes about what can’t be put into words (the usual.)
This Sunday, March 14: We’re Zoomin’ at you. Live service at 10 am. Look for email invitation this weekend.
See you then, Steve

 Sunday March 7, 2021

Dear WCCC, coffee hour at 10am. Next Sunday, March 14, a live Zoom service!

And, we are making an offering for Feed The People Dallas Mutual Aid (see below). To contribute: send check with “Feed The People” in memo line to:

WCCC PO Box 148 Cummington 01026

Feed The People is a LatinX/ Black mutual aid organization, led by women. It is based on the original Black Panther model of the 1960s, which focused on just that: feeding the neighborhood, a grassroots effort based on mutual aid and local support. In this case, the time is Now and the area is Dallas/Fort Worth.

Dear WCCC, Headed for the equinox, get those shots; stay masked, stay open to hope. Here we have a new song from Laila Salins and Jim Matus. Click the link below. It could be a prelude. Could be a meditation after the service. A special treat from those who live by the river, and sing a river of song “High We Shine The Sky” There is a Wednesday style message and Aretha Franklin, singing “People Get Ready.” ‘Nuf said. A special treat from those who live by the river, and sing a river of song: Laila Salins and Jim Matus “High We Shine The Sky” — Love, Steve
